More about Spine yoga:

The Spine yoga system was created by Gergő Német, founder of the Mandala Yoga Studios in Budapest, by merging the techniques of traditional hatha yoga with the perspective of modern movement therapies.

As a yoga instructor he had to face the physical limitations of the urban human, which posed an obstacle not only in learning yoga techniques but also in establishing a joyful and healthy lifestyle. He gained qualifications as a Recreational Sport Instructor, Wellness Instructor and Spine Trainer, and then, using the knowledge he gained he started teaching an approach to applied yoga that aims to maintain a healthy physical body, under the name 'Spine yoga'.

Spine yoga is a modern movement therapy system, which uses specific yoga postures in order to restore the health of the physical body and the nervous system, by using safe exercises that are built on the basic anatomical movements. We would like to place yoga on anatomical and physiological fundaments which stand up to the expectations toward modern movement therapies. In order to be able to execute the intense energetic exercises of hatha yoga, which pose a challenge even to those with a healthy body, one needs sufficient preparation: a preventive and safe, yet effective movement therapy. Spine Yoga admits having limited the tools of hatha yoga to an easy and safe sequence of exercises, with the aim of making it accessible to those who are not yet prepared physically and in terms of body-awareness.

• The aim of Spine Yoga is to restore the health of the physical body, primarily with improving one's posture: the right posture is not only the prerequisite of curing musculo-skeletal issues, but also of learning the right way of breathing.

• The right way of breathing has a prominent role in yoga, as it directly affects our hormone system, digestion, as well as energetic flows.

• The third main field is improving one's ability to relax, which is acutely needed for more and more of us. The attention of the modern human being is focused on the physical plane, thus Spine Yoga also begins the practice from here. As a first step, it directs the attention of the person coming from an extroverted and fast-paced world onto their own body. Deep self-reflection has numerous beneficial effects: breathing slows down, the nervous system relaxes, blood pressure decreases, tensions are released and body-awareness begins to grow with unexpected intensity.

The primary roles of Spine Yoga are prevention and rehabilitation. It strengthens and stretches the muscular system in a harmonic way, with precise, anatomically determined exercises; it shapes the body safely and effectively; and through all these, if affects the entirety of human life. The primary goal is attaining and maintaining a state of health; already existing diseases need to be treated with the help of a physician. Spine Yoga, as a group movement therapy that methodically treats the entire body, supports and complements personalised and target-oriented therapeutic interventions.
